Guys,

A lots of you come from Asia or Oceania (actually, I must be the only one coming from somewhere else). What do you think of the current protestations and demonstrations against/for the next Olympic Games in China. What about the Tibet cause ?

I would be interested to see your reactions on this topic. Us Europeans don't have the same view on the subject you have. So ... this event gather a lottttttttttts of people (a few billions), this is an exciting event but ... what will happen this year ?

PS . I have a wedding in China mid July ... That would be great if I could enjoy the journey ...

ooohh man your screwed! Razz LOL just kidding!

about the Tibet and China conflict, . .

i think the media is just being to bias about showing how cruel chinese authority is to the tibetan demostrators and to local police all over the world who show discipline to tibetan protesters.

if you read history books you know that tibetans have a history of violence, their not that peaceful demonstrators as tagged by media, and so is china!

i think this is going to a bloodied Olympics if pursued, . . i don't know, . .

tsk tsk tsk, . .

I have no negative view on the Beijing Olympics. Being Chinese myself, i feel i should be more informed on the subject (didn't know about the protests until i read this thread >.<). But anyways i was born and raised in Aus so I'm gonna excuse myself.

Im looking forward to the Olympics and i hope all runs well, if not then i guess we will all have to just deal.

Btw. On your marriage, grats!
May i ask exactly where in China the wedding will take place?

Hey, that's not my wedding guys haha Smile

I will attend to a Chinese friend of mine who is getting married with a French guy. I am visiting us ! As for me, no wedding planned. My girlfriend doesn't like marriage, the meaning of the marriage, but I could convinced her one day ...

Anyway, I'm the most happy man in the world, I don't need marriage to embody that :d

Could you tell me more about history and violence for Tibet?

whats this about? i said China and Tibet

anyway i'll try to share some facts though,

it seems now that a responce to a violent outrage is another violent outrage, and no good comes from this situation at all.

You know the story of the young Dalai Lama right?

There was a movie about this if i'm not mistaken. Wherein Mao Zedong's China invaded Tibet which forced the Dalai Lama to flee and live in exile.

from Barbara O'Brien Behind the Turmoil in Tibet

"According to GlobalSecurity.org,
the People’s Republic of China had guaranteed no alteration of Tibetan
political, cultural, and religious systems and institutions. China failed to live up to this agreement, however. The Tibetans began
to revolt against Chinese rule in 1956. From that time, through the end
of the Cultural Revolution in 1976, an estimated 1,200,000 Tibetans
were killed and more than 6,000 religious sites were destroyed by the
Chinese.
So-called “democratic reform” led to an uprising in Lhasa in 1959. The
response by China was harsh; approximately 87,000 Tibetans were killed,
arrested, deported to labor camps, or sent into exile."

from Global Security.org

"Chinese government authorities continued to commit serious human rights
abuses in Tibet, including instances of torture, arbitrary arrest,
detention without public trial, and lengthy detention of Tibetan
nationalists for peacefully expressing their political or religious
views"

Recently in Lhasa, where howling Tibetan mobs turned on ethnic Han Chinese and Hui
Muslims last Friday in the worst violence in nearly 20 years, a homemade
bomb was thrown at a paramilitary vehicle yesterday. Police fired teargas to
disperse onlookers and schools were ordered to close early. It was unclear
how many people were hurt. Residents said four police were killed or wounded
but officials would not comment.

However i have read that there are accumulating evidence that the Chinese regime orchestrated the violence in Lhasa in order to discredit the peaceful protest of the Buddhist Monks.

from chinaview.wordpress.com

"According to the Dalai Lama’s Chinese translator, Ngawang Nyendra, a
witness reported that a Chinese policeman in Lhasa disguised himself as
a Tibetan and joined the protesters holding a knife in his hand. This
witness also recognized the man from BBC news footage and news photos
provided by China."

i'll try to put in some more info regarding Tibet though but apparenlty the Dalai Lama and his cliques has the utmost responsibilty in this case. Buddha is not a Lord he has nothing and own nothing but Dalai Lama is "Lord". *sigh*

He should stop the riots i think.

Yeah, no big deal, that's not really double posting. One was wrote back to April, 21st and to other April, 25th. Except if you judge that two posts in a row belonging to the same person is automatically double posting, no matter what time separates them ...
Anyway, thx for your reply.
